Customer Credit Card Processing FAQs
- What credit cards do you accept? Currently we accept Visa®, Mastercard®, Discover®, and American Express®.
- Who processes credit card transactions for MedLawPlus.com, Inc.? We use Authorize.net, promoted on its web site as follows: "More than 158,000 merchants trust Authorize.Net to manage their payment transactions. We are one of the largest payment gateway services and are experienced at handling millions of transactions securely and reliably." Link.
- What are the mechanics for approving a credit card transaction through Authorize.net? The information you submit to us is transferred securely (through SSL) to Authorize.net. First, they seek authorization from your credit card company for this transaction in the amount of the proposed transaction. Second, they match the street address and zip code given against the official billing address for this credit card. If they do not match, the transaction is declined.
- My purchase was declined; however, when I checked my account online, it is showing a purchase? Real time credit card or bank account systems reflect each authorization given for a transaction. The actual payment from your account does not occur for one or two business days after the authorization has occurred. When transaction authorization is given by the credit card company but Authorize.net declines the transaction for some reason, your online account statement incorrectly shows a purchase that was never made. This error self-corrects usually within two business days.
- Can MedLawPlus.com, Inc. refund a purchase directly to my credit card account? If a user timely requests a refund which is authorized by the standard terms and conditions of registration, MedLawPlus.com, Inc. shall process a refund directly to your credit card account. We typically refund around 2% of all legal form purchases.
- MedLawPlus.com emailed me that the purchase would be refunded but my online bank statement does not show the refund? As stated above, Authorize.net (the company which handles our credit card transactions) seeks authorization for a charge before a purchase is made. At the time that authorization is sought, your bank or credit card company marks it down as a purchase regardless of whether and when the transaction is actually processed. Our sales for the day are batched to Authorize.net at 10:00 p.m. CST. It generally takes authorize.net another business day to make the actual transaction with visa, master card, etc. Thus, if you ask for a refund the same day as the purchase and we void it before 10:00 p.m. CST, your credit card account was never actually charged. Your company is merely showing a credit card charge authorization that never went through. It should reverse out within 2-3 business days. What if the refund comes after 10:00 p.m. CST of the day of the purchase? Then a refund has to be posted to your account through authorize.net. Again, the refund is batched by us at 10:00 p.m. CST the day granted. It takes another 2-3 days to actually hit your account.
