COLORADO LEGAL INFORMATION

Power of Attorney Statutes

  • Notary: Signature of principal upon POA must be acknowledged by a notary.
  • Witnesses: No witness required to signature of principal.
  • Signature of Agent: No requirement that the agent sign the POA; however, the standard MedLawPlus.comŽ POA form does have a signature block for the agent. It is a recommended practice to have an agent (also called "attorney-in-fact") sign the POA.
  • Colorado statutes--Go to Title 15 (probate, trusts, and fiduciaries), Article 1 (fiduciary), Part 13 for the Colorado Uniform Power of Attorney Act.
    • Note: Additional Colorado Statutes covering POAs are found at Title 15 (probate, trusts, and fiduciaries), Article 14 (persons under disability), Parts 5 and 6

  • Information for the Colorado State Bar concerning financial power of attorney.

Online form: Financial Power of Attorney Price: $9.99 (free trial)
