"State health officials have suspended the medical license of a Seattle doctor accused of negligence, incompetence and malpractice in the treatment of four patients at a small, rural hospital in Pend Oreille County last July (2007)." Among the allegations were failing to treat a 69-year-old man who was suffering a heart attack for seven hours and failing to stitch up the severely lacerated leg of a patient he planned to discharge. Addicted Doctors. "Nearly all (US) states have confidential rehab programs that let doctors continue practicing as long as they stick with the treatment regimen. Nationwide, as many as 8,000 doctors may be in such programs, by one estimate." Link. While in these rehab programs run by the state medical boards, the substance abuse problem of the physician is kept confidential, thus, the patients are never told. Youtube video on topic.

Dr. Colin Peter Sinclair (Windsor, Ontario CA)
"Sinclair has been charged with three counts of possession of oxycodone in 10 milligram, 40 milligram and 80 milligram strengths, one count of possession of Percocet and one count of possession of hydromorphone, all for the purpose of trafficking. All are opioid pain relievers and are considered to carry a high risk of abuse and addiction. He's also been charged with one count of possession of marijuana." Link. (6-23-2008)
Cecil B. Jacobson, MD (Northern Virginia)
In 1992, Dr. Jacobson, a fertility specialist, was convicted of 52 felony counts of fraud stemmed from his misconduct in implementing a fraudulent sperm donor scheme in which he injected his own sperm into his patients instead of the promised sperm of the patient's husband or an anonymous donor. He was sentenced to five years in prison and had his medical license revoked.
