Below are links to the medical boards for all 50 states. Specifically, links are provided for researching the current status of a doctor's medical license in each state and whether any disciplinary action has been taken. Not every state board has a searchable database for disciplinary actions taken against its licensed doctors. We have listed those that we located. In most states, a short summary of any disciplinary action taken against the doctor is shown in his or her profile located on the state medical board web site (links provided).

FN1 How to file a complaint against a physician in the District of Columbia. "Simply send a letter to the D.C. Board of Medicine that describes your complaint with any supporting documents that you may have. Your letter should describe succinctly what your issue is with the practitioner. Complaints must be in writing, signed by the complaintant and identify the physician about whom the complaint is being made. Your letter should be addressed to
