Comment:
I set up my account using the friends and family promition. It is the only reason I signed up with Direct TV. The woman I spoke with was very nice, and took all of my mother's account information.
Their bills I received reflected discounts and I didn't relize this wasn't the discount offered until I spoke with my mother and she stated she was not receiving the additional discount.
I called in August and cancelled the free Showtime I asked them not to instate in the first place and inquired about my discount. I was told it goes in monthly installments and will reflect on my next bill in September. I paid my September bill online and didn't realize the discount had not processed.
I called again Monday evening and was told that my account was not set up for friends and family, because I had called the incorrect phone number to set up. I went through 3 supervisors and all told me the same thing; it was my fault that I called the wrong number and there was nothing they could do. They had no access to see who set up my account, and couldn't tell me who I spoke with in August either, although they had details of the conversation. Yet, the friends and family inquiry I made in August wasn't documented.
When I asked the final Supervisor "Justin" how I was supposed to know I had called the incorrect number when the woman took all my information down he basically called me a liar. I requested some sort of compensation and he indicated that I was trying to scam DIrect TV.
I asked to be let out of my contract since it was based off fraud and there is a $300+ charge to do so. I aked for the sales number since he didn't have access and he said there was not one, it's just the main number. He said they cannot control who I get my sales through, and he couldn't determine where, although he said I did start my service through them.
I was told I could write to the President of Direct TV to file a complaint, or give feedback on their website.
Frankly, I don't like their channel line up, and they are more expensive than comcast and require a 2 year contract which is why they can give such horrible customer service. The picture gets fuzzy suring a storm and they have all their pay per view lineup in the middle of their channels, which we have to pass to get to the kids channels. I don't appreciate my children reading some of the titles!
All around, don't subscribe with Direvt TV. They can build a contract based of fraud, and even if I had called immediately after I got my first bill there is nothing they would do to remedy the situation. All I wanted was something comparable to the $100 whether it be an upgraded box, or channel package.
The funny thing is if they would have upgraded my box which would have been comparable they would be getting $10-16 more from us a month for 2 years. Instead, I will be letting everyone I know what an awful experience I had. Not good in this economy when people are cutting costs.
