Same thing happened to me, Charter rep going door to door selling the telephone service. Had my total bill with him. Gave me a figure for total service including the new phone service for 1 year. It was nearly identical to what I paid before the phone. Also indicated free installation.

When the first bill came, it was $30 higher than I had been paying and I was charged for the install. I called to complain they just said the seller made a mistake and I would have to pay the full amount. I than said I'd quit the phone service, they told me if you quit you won't get your phone number back, I had that number for sometime. All a huge rip off!!!!
