Wow, I can't believe how many people DirecTV has tried (successfully) to cheat. We started having problems in March with two out of three receivers. I called DirecTV and they tried to help fix the problem with no success. They sent a new receiver and my husband had just ordered another High Def. receiver so we tried to hook it up with customer/tech services' help but it kept showing local channels from Idaho (or somewhere). They escalated to their National line, he tried to walk us through, still the same problem. They said they would send someone out at no cost to us to make sure the installation was okay. We said the receiver downstairs works so it is obviously faulty equipment. Someone can out, said it was faulty equipment and replaced the receivers. So in June our service is interrupted and Directv says I have to pay 564 dollars to restore. So I thought maybe I hadn't paid for 2 months (I will say that my mother had just recently passed away and I was extremely busy in a new career. When I finally was able to look at the bill we were charged $240 for a receiver, $55 for a receiver and 49.99 for service call. I called back livid (I did not have the money for 564 for a stupid Directv bill), They said we hadn't sent back the receivers. I honestly thought the rep had taken them. They said they sent a recover box but they didn't (this was June 23). They said when I sent the receivers back they would credit my account. I sent them back three days later and was out of town for work for 5 days. Come back, check bank account, not there. Call customer service, she has to go through investigation, blah, blah, should take 8-10 days. I was extremely upset because I needed that money to take a class that I have to in order to keep my job. The refund was to be about $350. So as of yesterday, still no refund, so I call the ceo number I found, and got the same crappy service and lies. This guy tells me I should be getting my 172 refund by tomorrow (still haven't) and he informed that they went ahead and took out the next months bill and when they scanned the access card they found five adult movies that had been downloaded and they took that amount out as well. I said we have never been able to order from a remote because we do not have a land line. He said that when they first install it they set it up so you can order from a remote. Whatever, they say the charges stand and I don't know what to do. Now I don't have the money to take my class. Also I see where they have been charging us for 4 leased receivers for the past couple of months and 19.99 delivery and handling charge (for replacing faulty equipment). I hadn't had a chance to carefully go over these bills because without my consent they switch us to paperless and I so seldom had the chance to go on line to look at anything. They are a bunch of crooks.
