Main thread--Uhaul Billing Complaints
State: FL Posted: 06/03/2009 Subject: Broken down U-haul equipment Comment: It has been stated by a u-haul employee on here that you do not rent broken down equipment but my husband rental a u-haul on 5-29-09 to move a distance of 32 miles. This was rented at 7:09 pm and by 8:15 the truck started making a noise and my husband went to pull over on the side of the highway to find the truck had no brakes or power steering. He called me and I contacted U-haul and was told that they would have someone out there within the hour. Those phone calls went on until a tow truck showed up at 11:38pm. He then stated that they were going to take the uhaul to my home and leave it there overnight so that I could unload my furniture and that my husband should call the next morning and they would come pick it up. It took me until 3am to unload this truck and I had to be up by 5:45am for work so I got approx. 1 1/2 hrs sleep. The next morning my husband called uhaul and they told him that someone would be by soon to pick up the truck, he then called again every hour on the hour and was always told that the driver was on his way until the driver finally showed up at 3pm during my granddaughters birthday party. This is now three days later and we are still getting phone calls saying we are being charged for everyday that we do not return the truck. We have called both the regular customer service and regional managers and so far nothing has been done. These trucks should not be on the road without full inspections as you put my husbands life and the life of every other person on that highway in danger. |
