Subject: Sr's credit is being affected by Jr's
Comment:
My husband and son share the same name and address. Son lost his job last year and some of his bad debts are showing up on his fathers credit report. Last Saturday, a collection agency called NCO phoned and was very nasty with my husband. He tried to explain that this was not his account, but the woman on the other end said it was under his SS#. My husband was given a reference # and the original creditors phone #. After calling the original creditor, he was told the account does not list his SS# and did not give this out. My husband than called the woman at the collection agency back and demanded to know how they got his personal info. She told him three different things during the course of this phone call. Jr gave it to her, my husband gave it to her, the original creditor gave it to them. This is also happening with another company. How are they getting this info, and what recourse do we have to stop it? Who oversees these shady collection agencies?
