I am a women and was making a move that would take about a 12 hour drive. I requested a 17 foot truck and stated in the reservation because I have never driven a truck of this size if a 17 foot was not available I would rather cancel the reservation. I had no way of measuring the size of the truck eventhough I thought it to be rather big at first sight. The U-haul representative lied three times about the size of the truck. The movers after the truck had been rented and loaded inadvertantly stated this was at least a 24 foot truck. Later in the night while traveling in this truck alone I contacted road side assistance. He then clearafied that this was indeed a 26 foot truck the largest in U-hauls fleet. the size of the truck was not on the contract.
By letting me drive off their lot in a truck i was told and thought to be a 17 foot truck (26 feet)they put not only my safety but the safty of every other motorist on the highway with me in danger. There were several very incidents were I almost side swiped several motorist.
U-haul supervisors acted as if this was my fault. When I signed for this truck I thould it was a 17 foot. The size of the truck was not on the contract. The largest I would feel confortable driving alone.
I am furious that they deceived me.
