Subject: BOA Scam
Comment:
Last year, I closed a cc account that I had with BOA. I called Customer Service (and I use that word loosely) to get the exact amount to pay off the balance on the card. I had the representative transfer the money from my bank account to cover the balance and close the card. I then asked if the rep could stop the autopayment on the account. I was told that the autopayment automatically stopped once the account was paid off. This was a lie.
Two weeks later I logged on to my account to make sure it was paid in full and closed. The account showed a negative $189.00 balance. I then called BOA and asked why the balance was negative and why I had not yet received a refund? The rep said that they would cut me a check immediately and send the money (it took another 10 days to get the check). Three days after that I noticed a withdrawal on my checking account for $300.00 (the amount of my autopayment that was not stoppped). I then logged on to BOA and stopped the autopayment myself. I also called to get the money returned (again).
Two months later I pulled a credit report and found a 30-day late payment from BOA on my otherwise perfect credit file. The late payment was on a balance of $1. I have spent the last 6 months fighting BOA and Equifax over this so called late payment (which I wasn't late on) removed from my credit file. Bank of America is the WORST company I have ever dealt with and will NEVER deal with again.
I honestly cannot believe the level of blatant criminal activity that they are allowed to continually exhibit....but with no repercussion. I think that someone should investigate how many public officials are having their pockets padded to look the other way with this company.
