Subject: U-haul Mechanical Complaint

I had a horrible experience renting with U-haul. According to the sales associates, the van that I rented was supposed to be brand new, however when I drove the van, on many occasions it felt like I could not control the steering. The van went whichever way it wanted to go when I hit a bump in the road, or when the wind blew. I was afraid for my life driving this "new" vehicle.
The worse part of the whole thing was that I was charged more than my reservation showed. The clerk quoted me an outrageous fee to reserve the vehicle in cash ($1100). When I reserved it with a credit card, all of these hidden fees started to total up. My experience is that U-haul is not upfront with their customers about mechanical issues or costs. It's very disturbing. If moving isn't stressful enough, U-haul is there to push you over the limit.
