Subject: collection agency extortion tactics
Comment:
Eighteen months after I received treatment in a hospital emergency ward and paid for it fully I received a letter from a collection agency, CMRI Financial Services Inc., demanding an additional $134.10, which includes $17-94 interest.I called them and was informed that unless I paid it it would effect my credit rating. To me that sounds like extortion. I have no recourse and no idea what the bill is for or why it wasn't sent to me before it was sent to the collection agency. The hospital merely referred me back to the collection agency.
What can do??
