I am all for getting Madoff to jail ASAP but have concerns about the impending guilty plea and its effects upon the ongoing investigation. Will prosecutors continue to work as aggressively to uncover the layers of this case after the guilty plea has been entered? Clearly Madoff did not pull this off alone--position is a complete shame. Nor were the participants restricted to his family. Prosecutors should be hard at work pealing back the layers of the onion that most likely shall ensnare government officials in addition to outside co-conspirators. The attorney conflict issue is just one of many out there: Madoff to Be Questioned on Possible Lawyer Conflict. Is the Madoff guilty plea part of an effort to take this case out of the national spotlight?
