So one night I get a call from Charter. It's one of their sales people offering me a great deal since I didnt have their telephone service. Now, we carry the highest speed 'net, all channels available and a DVR. The salesman told me that if I were to get their phone service for 24 months, I could get all of what I had PLUS another HD box for 147.94 a month. We had Vonage and were paying $20 a month, 194.00 a month for Charter, so this seemed like a economical deal. We agreed to it, and a month later they finally installed it.
Now, when I finalized the contract over the phone, I was told that I had an extra $15 more than what I was quoted for HD service and Moxi. Still, a nice savings, so I still agreed. We got our first bill over the weekend (March 8), and it was $392 dollars!!! Needless to say, my wife and I were FURIOUS. So I called them and after battling with a customer rep, I finally was able to get a manager on the line. She "apologized" for the over-zealous salesperson and that there was no guarantee of a $147.94 monthly rate available.
After 10 minutes of arguing, they cancelled my phone service and pro-rated all of the charges off my bill. I live in a small city in Michigan where Charter is my only option and they are consistently rude and their charges keep going up and up. It's no wonder that they are teetering on bankruptcy with their terrible business practices and utter lack of ethics.
