I have 25 years wihtthe company, and learned a few things along the way which I thought I maight share wiht you..

First of all, if a cusotmer comes on the line yelling, or is agitated, DO NOT HANG UP on them. They probably have every right to be upset.
Second..if they are uoset, DO NOT take it personally, they are not mad at you, they are mad at the company. Let them speak their piece, thne do your best to help them. (you sound very defensive in your email. Your job is to help the customer, and you get paid very well to do it.
Third..as for letting the customer know how many systems you have to go through, thats rediculous. If you remain calm, and just explain to them that you are checking their various portions of the bill, they wil work with you.
There are alot of good reps working for the company. Unfortunately, you will run into others from time to time. Just try to be as honest and helpful as you can be. No one ever got fired for giving good customer service.
