Main thread--DTV4PC Complaints
State: California Posted: 02/27/2009 Subject: DTV4PC Comment: I read all the negative comments and almost didn't get this software. I'm glad I did, though. Like a lot of businesses, they have multiple items you can purchase and they emphasize the cheapest one. I paid an extra $20.00 to get their 1) premium stations and 2) OnDemand TV shows and movies. I recommend getting at least the premium stations. For a one time fee of $9.99 you get about twice as many of the "mainstream stations" you would expect on TV like Fox, ABC, and BBC. Some other reviewers complained about the picture quality. If you're expecting it to equal your cable TV, then you will be disappointed. But it's seemingly the same as watching Netflix streaming videos or CNN.com videos, which is fine as far as I'm concerned. Sure, I'm looking forward to web broadcasts improving, especially when you enlarge the picture to full-screen. But, it's fine. And, when one considers you're getting all these TV stations and OnDemand shows for $49.99 (The basic $29.99 plus the $9.99 for the premium stations and the $9.99 for the OnDemand show and movies) it's a great deal, a much better deal than paying Comcast a monthly fee for only a handful of more stations and better quality pictures. So, in summary, if you're looking to duplicate your Cable TV experience, you won't get that here. But, as far as I'm concerned, this is much better. I'm watching the news on BBC One as I type this. Ah! Great! |
