Subject: late fees disconnection of features
Comment:
We had our calling features disconnected, call waiting, caller id..... without any notice. On New years eve. When we discovered the problem, by calling repairs, who informed us it was disconnected for non payment and we needed to call customer service which ofcourse the office was closed and ofcourse closed on New years day. We were late by 9 days, no disconnect notice, no courtesy call, nothing. First I thought the payment was scheduled online, but somehow I goofed and it didn't go threw. However I immediately made the payment again as soon as I talked to repairs on New years eve. Day after new years I called customer service, found out my plan was changed, due to disconnect of features, immediately went threw and had the features readded, at a cost of 3.95, 3rd time in 3 months as we have changed our plan trying to reduce this bill. Anyway, from there I asked about late fee, customer service couldn't explain it. She put me on hold and ask the supervisor and came back and said no one really knew. Ofcourse I said that's impossible, someone has to know, you can't just charge a random amount it's against the law, she said she just didn't know. Gave me another number to call, which I did, lost connection, yes I actually lost connection with the phone co, strange?? Not to be deterred I called back. They didn't realize not everyone gives up when they want an answer. So this time I got another dept. who explained yes, it's a 7.00 flat rate plus a percent. I asked is that legal with the utilities regulatory for Ind she of course said yes. I am still not confidenced and intend to check into that after the holiday weekend. I did ask why this service was disconnected without any notice and ofcourse that was answered with the same standard answer they give all of us, basically, because ATT felt like it. Supposedly we did receive a notice, I am not convinced, but who wins when you argue with ATT. Now a few months back I asked for a paper bill. We had signed up for online billing years ago, back when it was SBC and when we did that we couldn't receive paper bills anymore, ATT informed me I could have both, well, now I can't seem to few my bill online, only the amount owed, no detail. I went and quit paper billing hoping that I would be able to start viewing bills online again. Who knows right?? Finally I went digging threw all viewable online bills and I have decided ATT doesn't really want you to understand your bill. I gave up, yes I give up! I paid my bill, am current to my knowledge, but then again, who knows, perhaps I'm not, I just can't be sure, that's how they like it. If you can be a little late they can make another 7.00, and if you add up all the late fee they charge everyone it has to be a fortune. And since no one seems to know for sure how the figure that, who knows right?
