We live in Newnan, Georgia. Which is about 35 miles south of Atlanta. So, its not like we live someplace where they have to truck sunshine in. Never the less, we have a whole cluster of complaints. 99.999% of the people you get on the phone w/customer service/tech support cant pour water out of a boot!! That is IF they can speak English to where you can understand them, in the first place. They say they "cant" get hold of the person coming out. Thats a lie!! They can!! They call us ten times to confirm a service call then the person still shows up late!
Now, mind you..we’ve only had service since August 08. Its now December 08. We went round and round several days trying to get them out here just to connect the service. We missed a call .. they moved on. Most days they wouldn’t call nor show. When they did finally show… we had services for less than 24 hours. Somebody from there came back and disconnected us. We have Vonage for our phone service (other than our cell phones) and when the cable is out, so is the phone.
So, here we go again. It took them another five days to get back out here to reconnect us. That was after my husband and I both called and pitched fits. While this was happening we were trying to find another provider. Comcast is pricy but they work!! The problem is… they don’t come out this far. The local folks didn’t come out as far as our address because we live in the county and they only deal with the stuff in the city limits.
We started having "issues" with our digital box for over a month before they would send anyone out. Trust me! I yelled and stomped for weeks! It first started with the “On Demand” locking up. Then it turned into all the channels going out. EACH time this happened I HAD to call and/or “chat” with them to have the box reset. It wouldn’t matter that I tried it on my own. I would spend about half an hour everyday, several times a day trying to get this worked out. FINALLY they send someone out.. the first guy said we didn’t have enough signal going through the ..??? Router? Modem? I don’t remember what he said. That lasted about half a day. The next day a guy came out and said all of our electronics were hooked up wrong so it was all feeding back into the digital box. Strange! It had worked from for almost three months. Ok.. so “just fix it”! LOL Wouldn’t you know… that lasted less than 30 minutes!!!
Trying to get someone back our here was pointless. Not to mention the guy was to be here between 1:00 p. m. and 3:00 p. m. and it was 6:30 p. m. before they guy showed up in the first place. SIGH!!! Ok so yet another appointment was made for the next day. The ONLY time slot they had available was from 1:00 p. m. – 3:00 p. m.. Dang! So I should expect this guy at midnight??? They called me about four times to confirm an appointment. The last time they called it was at 2:45 p. m. to confirm that they guy would be here between 2:10 p. m. and 3:10 p. m. It doesn’t matter that I had to call and raise hell at 4:30 because nobody had shown.
When this guy did show he replaced the box and admitted he didn’t know, but he was pretty sure the box was the issue. Well.. DUH!! After the second week of dealing with this in the beginning I mentioned that to the (lack of) Customer Service person on the phone. But was told “No, it cant be the box because its receiving our signal just fine.” Dang! I wouldn’t do for me to work for Charter. I would be fired the first week for telling the folks on the phone the truth!
Well, we’re into the second day after the box has been replaced and its still working… but I aint holding my breath!
In their defence, they have issued us credits on two occasions. But I had rather the service work and us pay full price rather than have to deal with the BS!!!
I wish somebody with some ethics and morals would buy out Charter and run it like somebody who gave a flip about the customers and not the money!!!
