Customer BEWARE!!! A sampling of Blockbuster stores has recently changed the late policy. Since 2005, the policy has stated that if a movie is returned within 30 days after due date that the customer movie sale charge will convert to a $1.25 restocking fee. A few stores have changed that 30 days to 10 days without formal notification to the customer. I ran into this recently after turning in movies 15 days after the due date. After returning to blockbuster to rent additional videos ready to pay my restocking fees, I was informed that the front of my old rental receipt reflected this change and that I was required to pay full price for all rented videos costing in excess of $200. There was no signage anywhere in the Blockbuster store and the back of my receipt still stated the old 30 return policy. I contacted Blockbuster customer service and was told that they are testing this new policy at some stores and are not required to formally communicate this to customers because the back of the receipt clearly states that stores have an option not to abide by the 30 day grace. This is very deceptive and I'm now on the hook for over $200 in movie costs that will soon be turned over to a collection agency. Please don't make the same mistake that I made and assume that policies don't change without notification. It's amazing the lows that some companies will sink to.
