Comment:
I called to discontinue CHARTER service effective Sept. 5th, to switch to ATT U-Verse (which I STRONGLY recommend EVERYONE to do). Two weeks later I got a statement saying I owed over $300. I called, was told that it was billing for equipment, but they showed the equipment had been returned so there was not any further charges. A month later I got a letter (addressed to my maiden name which was changed with Charter over a year previous) -- It was address as coming from Charter Collections for $44.54. I called, spoke to a supervisor who told me that the service wasn't actually turned off until almost a week after the 5th and I therefore owed for a partial month. I was upset, but wanted this over, I was told I would bet a statement. Today, I got the statement (a month later) but it's from a COLLECTIONS BUREAU with an additional$8.02 charge!! I called, spoke to a supervisor (who is located in the Phillippines) and I was now told that Charter cannot send billing statements after service is terminated, that it always goes to a collection agency!! So, my credit rating gets dinged --- SOMEONE PLEASE START A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT ON THIS AND SIGN ME UP ! ! !
