I ordered full platinum package from Charter at $130/mo in 2004. For two years I paid this fee for the 14 fuzzy channels you get free plugging into the wall with no box. Literally hundreds of service calls, box swaps, cable clippings, line amp removals and installations, yielded nothing. I kept the service because I need internet for business, their internet mostly worked for me, no other is available here, and because they would charge me the ridiculous price of $45/mo for internet alone. Two years in, no cable service, a tech tells me there is a senior or lead tech in the neighborhood, and he calls him over. The three of us are looking at my setup page , and it takes me to notice that it reads "disconnect status , yes". "Shouldn't that read disconnect, no" I ask? "Gosh, let's call in and see if your account is paid". It was . "Hit the box" they say. "My paperwork says disconnect no, so he is turned on and I don't need to hit it" she says. 20 minutes of arguing by the techs convinces her to hit the box. My service goes on for the fist time in two years. Two years after that, I am still fighting for a rebate. Exhausting all other resources including Charter Corporate, I today drove 40 minutes to the local office in Walworth Wisc, which I would have done long ago except for the fact that Charter reps would not give me the address. (They will also tell you that there is no such thing as a supervisor for you to talk to, then that there is, but she cannot and will not connect you, that they cannot give you the corporate phone or address, then they do) Anyway, Walworth tells me that they cannot give rebates going that far back, and I should have cancelled or complained and requested a rebate in 2004. What was it again that I made those 300 phone calls and threats about in 2004-5? I don't seem to be able to recall, my brain is stressed somehow. That is the mere beginning and tip of the iceberg in my journey with Charter, but I can't stand anymore right now, and I'm sure you can't either. These are abject bloody morons. Sign me up for any class actions. If by miracle I get any action from my BBB, FTC, or criminal complaints, I'll post the results for others to take action.
