I ordered a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop for my Adopted Father as a Christmas present. It was delivered to my home on 12/13/2007. There were no instructions that we had to "activate" the internet security program when connecting to the internet. When my Father connected to the internet, prior to trying to "activate" the security program, the system picked up a virus according to IT professionals at Staples which wiped out 18 system files. We have been on the phone for hours on end with Technical Support at Dell where we got only the run around and they wanted us to do all the technical diagnosis (we are NOT certified IT personnel) which in itself would void any warranty that came with the unit. All we wanted was a prepaid UPS label to ship it back either for a replacement or repair of the defective one. I'm sick and tired of getting a run around because Dell has no concept of customer service or ethical business practices. I am currently paying $2400 for a piece of garbage!!!!!
