Subject: Beware of Autopay OVERCHARGE!!!!!
Comment:
Hi, I have been finding some very scary Charter stories online. I wanted to save someone from what happened to me...CHARTER WON'T FIX this in a reasonable, timely manner...which I feel is VERY SLMY.
I cancelled my service with Charter on the 14th!!! I was SOOOOO happy to do so. I was on auto pay. Much to my surprise they did my August Autocharge (though I had a credit coming to me from the past) on the 29th of July!!!!!
They will NOT be refunding the charge that they SHOULD NOT HAVE MADE for 6 to 8 weeks!!!!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!! They continue to take money though they are not authorized...sadly the credit card company doesn't do much to help!
THE challenge is using credit card autopayments with a disreputable company!!!!! The only way to stop a company from taking autopays...even when you are no longer doing busines with them is to completely cancel the card and have a new one with a new number issued. BUT that only keeps them from using the card in the future. It will not get me my money back faster (they take 90 DAYS to investigate my complaint!).
THE ONLY protection if you used a checking account with a bank routing number. THEN they can block all future charges with a company.
I WAS SoOOooooooooOOOOOooo thrilled be FIRING charter!!!! But they definitely got in the last MAJOR hassle. We will see how long it takes to get my prorated refund and the unauthorized charge back.
