We signed up with PeoplePC when they offered 3 months free and the $3.95 a month for 3 months. At the end of the 3 month trial period we wrote an email cancelling the service. When checking our credit card bill the next month we saw PeoplePC had charged us $3.95 even though we had cancelled the service. We wrote another email. This time we were told we had to CALL them as that was the only way to cancel. So, we began a 6 month regime of calling our credit card company to dispute the $3.95 charge, calling PeoplePC and having to listen as they attempted to cajole us into taking another trial offer (which is the reason they don't want to cancel the service when you request cancellation by email). We refused their special offers and finally got to the point when they started their sales pitch we cut them off and refused to even listen to them. They would still sneak it in our conversations and it would take at least 15 minutes every time we called before they'd agree to cancel and gave us another verification number that the service would cancelled. Our credit card carrier said they'd had many complaints about PeoplePC but they could not block them from putting stuff on our credit card - so we were stuck having to make the call each month to get the charge taken off our bill, calling PeoplePC to demand they cancel the service and stop charging our credit card and then writing an email demanding the service be disconnected, that no more charges be assessed against our card for services we had cancelled and threatening everything from a class action suit to writing the Better Business Bureau to contacting our State Secretary of State to make a complaint. Only after 6 months did we notice the charges had been stopped and we can no longer access the account. I guess they finally got the message.
