Essentially what has happened to me is that I rented a truck for $20, drove it 70KM at $0.49/KM, for insurance, and ended up with 2 charges on my credit card for the amount of $150, which was nowhere near the $80 I expected to pay, including insurance. So, I call them and ask them what's up. I rented the truck on April 28 and returned it the same day, though unfortunately no employee was there when I returned it, and I had to use the key drop box. The lady brings up the invoice, and says 'wow, that's weird', it says you returned the truck 7 days late, but there is no late truck notice. Then proceeded to tell me she had no idea how I was charged that much, because apparently they don't keep track of charges?! So, I'm redirected about 60 times, to people who can't help me, and eventually one of them probably gets fed up, does the calculation and says, 'you must have driven' over 200KM, and that's why we charged you'. This was my first time renting a vehicle, but in the future I will make sure to:
1)Not take a vehicle if no employee will be there to witness/have me sign a document saying I returned the truck
2)Take pictures of the odometer before/after returning the truck. I wrote it down in my case, but it's my word against theirs, and since they have the credit card billing ability, they win...
SO... I'm out $70+ and still have yet to find someone who can help me at U-haul... since the beginning mid-May. Absolutely terrible
