"Sonya Capri Ramos tells ABC News that she lost her three-bedroom house in Salt Lake City over a $68 bill from the dentist who treated her daughter." The $68 bill was sent to a collection agency by the dentist who then sued her to reduce the bill to judgment. With legal fees, that number was already up to $950. Sonya says she never got notice of the lawsuit. She would have paid the money had she known. The collection agency then takes its judgment and sells her 3 bedroom home for $1,550 in a judicial sale. Insane. The case is now before the Utah Supreme Court. Sonya has paid the outstanding judgment and the mortgage on her home these past ten years while the case has been pending but can't get her home back. Link to story from USAToday.
