I had my Charter service disconnected in Oct. 2007. It was half way through the month so I waited for the next bill to come with the credits to pay the balance in full. It was paid in Dec. 2007. To this day I receive collection notices for a bill that was paid 6 months ago. I call customer service and they transfer me to collections who tell me to fax over a copy of the voided check. I don't receive my checks in my statements and am charged for a copy. I asked Charter if they were going to reimburse me for the check copy. Of course they said no and they just keep putting my account in a disputed status. I filed a complaint with the BBB and have started the process of filing with the State's Attorney General. I have spent way too much time on their mistake. They are supposed to be a communications company but yet they don't communicate within their company.
