Subject: Charter's bait and switch on billing
Comment:
I responded to a Charter email about adding phone service to my TV service for $14.99 a month for 12 months. When ordering, I confirmed THREE times with the lady it was going to be $14.99. I could never get her to tell me what the true cost after all those FCC fees and taxes were added would be. When the first bill arrived, I was being charged $19.99, plus over $10 in fees and taxes. When I called to get the bill corrected, I spent over 42 minutes on the phone, beiing switched to video repair, getting supervisors on the line who could not solve my complaint, being told that the $14.99 offer was no longer valid when I ordered it, and yet the lady I ORIGINALLY ordered from verified THREE times it was $14.99. If they allow their employees to lie and then they won't live up to the deal, that seems like bait and switch, and I know the federal government of the United States has laws against bait and switch, so in my mind Charter is guilty of a felony. Even though this is a small amount of money to fight over, bait and switch should cause Paul Allen to go to jail.
