Well I can only say that I am happy to find this website, (actually found several by googling "uhaul complaints") to validate my feelings about Uhaul's poor customer service.
In a 24 hr period Mar 15-16:
Fuel gage broken causing me to put $20 extra gas. Response: no credit

Changed rental from truck to van and told "no charge" yet bank statement showed 2 charges!
They said a certain reservation would be no charge, then I was charged twice!

Telephone customer service is the WORST!
One person would say one thing, another would say another. They transfer w/o warning, put on hold w/ warning, put on hold for LONG time, when reps answer they are all apathetic, glum and rude, saying "ma'am" over and over. I was on hold 45 minutes today. If you call back to try and get someone intelligent, they have you in their notes and continue where last one left off and give you even more rudeness.
today after 45 minute hold rep kept talking loud and fast, when I tried to say please talk slower I cannot hear you she yelled "I am talking. Do not interrupt." She would not let me talk.

I have (had) been a loyal uhaul customer for 25 years and never had a bad experience. i never had to call cust svc before. But this time mar 15, even the in store employees were rude. They stopped doing the truck inspection walk around, the truck was filthy. The windshield washer out of water. I asked him to please clean window. He reached into truck over my lap w/o asking (I'm female in shorts), and turned on wipers after I already told him it was out of water. Then w/o speaking he reluctantly filled reservoir, and I turned on wipers but window so dirty it only smudged the dirt. He coudl easily see but did not care. I had to ask him again to please clean the window and he angrilly and apathetically gets one w/o saying anything. Then he could not reach window (no duh, it's a 10' truck, why didn't he bring a step stool?)and the squeegee was broken, he just smudged the dirt around more w/o saying anything - hoping I'd say "Fine I'll do it myself".
Something's wrong at uhaul.
Regarding getting my money back that they overcharged me seems no hope. I filed claim at my bank but they will have to get past uhaul's assholes who will say they don't owe me anything.
