Great Fun--Bank of America deception
Bank of America's hidden promotion for Great Fun program
- My complaint. Today my credit card statement arrived from Bank of America. Inside was an innocuous little piece of paper made to look like a scratch off lottery ticket. I scratched off the gold bars to find out I had received a $10 credit against my bill. Sweet Jesus! Flip over the fake lottery ticket, read the fine print, and one finds out that redeeming the $10 credit "will result in a charge to your Bank of America credit card of $119.99 for a for a membership in Great Fun unless you cancel within the one-month Trial Offer period." Others on the web have found this marketing tactic to be deceptive. I'm not quite shocked but very surprised to see an established bank of BOA's stature engage in such what (to my eyes) is a blatantly deceptive marketing tactic. What lawyer approved this rouse?
