Drug Recalls By Manufacturer
Heparin, Trasylol and others
- Heparin recal. "Baxter Healthcare is recalling nine lots of heparin sodium injection 1000 units/mL 10-mL and 30-mL multidose vials from the US market due to an increase in the number of reports of adverse reactions and one possible death that may be associated with the product." January 28, 2008 news release; See FDA advisory on Heparin. This item is newsworthy although unrelated to the recall: "Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, filed a lawsuit against Baxter Healthcare Corp. over the drug Heparin, according to court papers obtained by Access Hollywood. Quaid's twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were accidentally given massive doses of Heparin, a drug manufactured by Baxter Healthcare Corp., which is used to prevent blood clots." Link.
- Trasylol. "The Trasylol drug recall of 2007 allowed the general public to finally be safe from unknown and unwanted kidney complications. The fact of the matter is that Bayer Pharmaceuticals, manufacturer of Trasylol, knew about the negative side affects of Trasylol back in 2005. However since the Trasylol drug recall did not occur till two years later many people were out of the know of the dangerous product, including doctors." Link. "In the wake of Bayer's announcement that it was pulling its
controversial heart surgery drug Trasylol from the market, nationally known
plaintiff's advocates Napoli Bern & Associates, LLP commenced several
litigations seeking damages for a heart patient's death." Link.
