"Creating a false sense of urgency," St. Louis Post-Dispatch
- "In interviews with the Post-Dispatch, consumers and former employees describe the way telemarketers mislead customers of US Fidelis, now under investigation by at least 40 state attorneys general and the Missouri Department of Insurance.
* * * They say US Fidelis sells contracts by creating a false sense of urgency, concealing information about limits on coverage and demanding upfront payments before sending out contracts." St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 4-24-2009.
- Casey & Devoti Files Class Action Against US Fidelis, 04-01-09: "Casey & Devoti files a class action lawsuit against US Fidelis, one of the largest sellers of extended automobile warranties in the country, alleging violations of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, a state consumer protection law. In the suit, Plaintiffs allege that US Fidelis uses misrepresentations and omissions of material fact to deceive consumers in the sale of extended automobile warranties." Link; Copy of complaint.
- Consumer complaint found on the web: "They sent me a letter saying that it was my last chance for an extended warranty for my vehicle, so I had my boyfriend call and see if it was a good deal. The guy on the phone gave him a quote of 2, 400.00 for a pretty good warranty. About two weeks ago, my a/c went out, so I took it in the other day to get it fixed.
