  • The Lawsuit. Ruling in a lawsuit brought by New York attorney general, "a New York judge concluded Dell engaged in repeated false and deceptive advertising of its promotional credit financing and warranties. He ordered the computer retailer to more clearly disclose that most customers don't qualify for free financing or get 'next day' repair service. The attorney general's office had 700 complaints against Dell when the lawsuit was filed in May 2007 and has received more than a thousand since." Link to story.
  • Several years ago, I experienced this same situation with Dell. I saw a zero interest rate advertised by Dell, went to their web site to purchase a laptop under the zero interest offer but was denied credit. I have excellent credit and have never ever (except for this instance) been denied credit. For a $1000 purchase? Please. Thus, I was not surprised when reading of the decision from the New York court.
