"Dermatology" is broadly defined as a medical specialty focused upon the diagnosis and treatment of the skin with emphasis upon the face and neck. Although many dermatologists perform procedures also done by plastic surgeons (such as liposuction), here is a list of many of the core procedures one would typically expect a dermatologist to perform:
  • collagen injections (aka BOTOX®),
  • laser skin resurfacing which can remove birthmarks and other skin blemishes as well as tattoos,
  • dermabrasion,
  • hair removal,
  • vein removal (electrolysis),
  • blepharoplasty (Droopy Eyelids),
  • treatment of wrinkles and sun damage to skin,
  • removal of moles and other skin blemishes.
