• Gynecomastia is caused by excessive fatty deposits in the male chest area resulting in a look that resembles female breasts. Some claim as much as 40% of American males suffer from this condition to some degree. Many are self-conscious about their bodies, embarrassed to wear fitted shirts or removing their shirts in public, thus, unable to participate in activities such as swimming.
• The size of your breasts should be stable for one to two years before considering the surgery. If your breast development has been caused by obesity, you may not be an ideal candidate for gynecomastia correction. In adolescents, gynecomastia can be a temporary condition caused by hormones.
