Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Rhinoplasty
Question 3

Question: Question: I am 40 years old and have always wanted to get rhinoplasty. I have a bulb on the end of my nose like WC Fields (though not nearly as big). It's just the shape of the cartilage. Looks like a bulb. Anyway, my nose itself I don't think is too big. I just think it Is throws my features way off. Is this a huge deal? Can it be done without breaking my nose or is that inevitable?

Response: Oftentimes this can be corrected with what we would call a "tip rhinoplasty". This basically means that your surgeon only needs to modify the cartilages that make your tip so "bulbish". This is relatively straight forward and would not involve breaking the nose if your nose would be in balance if only the tip was operated upon.
