Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Face Lift
Question 6
Question:
I am going to have a face lift. I can not decied between a Piont lift and thermage together . Plus he is adding in botox and fillers. And I have read some negatives about fat loss on thermage. And I have looked into the lifestyle lift. I am trying to decied which one would give me better results. If piont lift plus thermage would work as well Id like that better. Becouse it also lifts the eye. lifstyle lift seems to focuse on lower face and neck more so. And I have read thermage does not work so good. But as I said the first doctor does point lift with thermage. The second one is just lifestyle lift. can you give me your oppion on this to help me decied. Thanks angela

Response: The procedures you reference are not true facelifts and neither will get you the results of the gold standard- a deep plane lift that incorporates long lasting improvements in the jowl, neck and midface.
Thermage works well for roughly 30% of patients, and there is no way of predicting who will respond well. A recent study noted 2/3 of patients undergoing Thermage were unhappy with the results. Any "lift" (Piont) that is incisionless will give you short-term results (6-24 months). The Lifestyle Lift is a minimal "weekend" lift version of a facelift that does not provide that change or longevity of a true lift.
If you are trying to effect minimal results (at significant cost) either will give you reasonable short-term results. Botox and fillers may work as well by themselves (in conjunction with good skin care) as either of the above options. If you want a result that will last 5-10 years or more, you should have a FACELIFT.

Comment: i have read so many things about thermage thinning the face, however, i received thermage 3 months ago, and people have been telling my that my jawline is becoming more bloated. My doctor said it is suppose to make my face sharper, but it seems to do the opposite. What is going on?

Comment: I would like to know if Lifestyle surgery is of any help with wrinkles and turkey neck? I looked into it in Tampa, FL and and not really sure if I should go through with it. It would be around 4,500 for the surgery. I would appreciate your opinion. Karen

Comment: It depends on what your priorities are. A quick recovery or lasting results? Personally, I would save my money and get a facelift. A lifestyle lift will get you improvements in the short run but won't get you the longevity of a facelift, so you may end up in a couple years wishing you had done something different, unless you don't have much in the way of wrinkles and are looking for a quick, small fix.
good luck!
