Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Face Lift
Question 10
Question: I'm a female, age 46, with the beginning signs of a sagging jaw and creases around the mouth. What are your thoughts on the life style lift vs. plastic surgery?
From: Cheryl, Texas 01/29/2008
Response: Hi, and thanks for your question. The LifeStyle Lift IS plastic surgery- it is just a minimal approach. Most minimal approaches- the "Weekend Facelift", Threadlift, LifeStyle lift and minimal incision lifts will give nice results for a short period of time. If you simply do not have the recovery time these are nice options, but are not inexpensive. For the money, a true facelift will last much longer and is the gold standard for rejuvenation of the jawline. For creases around the mouth, volume is required- fillers (like Juvederm or Radiesse) or fat will help the lip and laugh lines. Most lifts will not alter the creases around the mouth adequately (or you would be left with a stretched, pulled look). At 46, you are the perfect age to get started, even if it is just fillers for now. The younger you are when you start, the better you can maintain and the longer the results will last (and the longer you will enjoy them!)
Good luck!
