Question: Hi,

I got saline breast implants 3 weeks ago. One of the implants has remained painfully hard has not moved down or spread out, it almost seems like it only filled out half the breast and seems stuck.
The surgeon said that she is not concerned. I am wondering if this sounds "common" and approx how long this may take to soften and expand?

Response: Your surgeon knows best as to what happened at the time of the procedure. I would be a little concerned about a hematoma that has gone unrecognized at this point. If there was a lot of bruising, you might consider asking her if an ultrasound exam might be useful to further investigate the cause of the hardening.
