Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction
Question 50
Question: I am getting ready to have a breast lift in a month. I'm considering including implants, and I am a D cup now. I want to remain a D cup after the breast lift. So if I am a D now and want to be a D after the surgery would the doctor have to replace my breast tissue with an implant in order to make me a D cup. I 'm wanting a fuller look and lift, but I don't want my breast tissue taken out to be replaced with an implant. Does the doctor just put in a smaller implant to fill up my D cup or Does he take the tissue out to replace it with an implant?

Response: A breast lift only removes skin and not breast tissue. If you are a D cup and wish to remain so, don't have implants placed. When the lift if performed, you will get a lot more projection and your volume should be sufficient. If you wish to be larger, later, that is the best time to perform the augmentation - only when needed and once all of your incisions are healed and no extra tension is placed on them with the implants.
