Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction Question 49
Question: My daughter would iike to get implants she is very small breasted, but is concerned about breast feeding. Can you pls tell me the pros and cons about that. thank you

Response: It is impossible to know if your daughter will be able to breast feed even if she does not have any surgery. Placing implants behind the chest muscles through an incision under the breast should avoid disturbing any of the breast gland. Studies have shown breast feeding is not decreased by having implants and there is no harm to the infant. If she is planning on having children in the next 2-3 years she might consider waiting to have surgery until after completing her family.
