Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction
Question 39

Question: Can a patient that has multiple sclerosis and takes an interferon-B medication to control the disease receive breast implants or is this elective surgery too risky for such a patient?
From: LC, PA 12/28/2007

Response: That depends upon your general health and the extent of the disease. If it is well controlled, there is no reason that breast implants could not be placed. There are higher risks due to the interferon which your surgeon would discuss with you prior to the procedure.
