Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction
Question 38
Question:
My right breast is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches bigger than the left breast, I understand that one is always going to be alittle bit bigger but it really bugs me that it's so noticable. I can't even wear a tank top or spaghetti strap without being insecure about how my chest looks. I would like my breasts to be alittle bigger and perkier but not sure if it's worth it. So should I consider having a breast augmenation or is there another alternative?

Response: Greetings,
Without examining you, you have two surgical alternatives to your asymmetry problem:
1) You may be able to augment both breasts into a better volume match. The shape difference, especially if there are different nipple positions, may not be as easy to correct. This usually provides acceptable improvement.
2) Reduce the size of the larger breast with reduction or breast lift scarring. This is a much less popular solution.
You can best make this decision after discussing your needs with a board certified plastic surgeon.
Hope this helps....
