Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction Question 33
Question:
I had breast implants put in over the muscle five years ago. Since the begining I've had many complications. Upon returning to my original Doctor he said my right one has a slight leak and the harding in the left one is due to scar tissue. Both have ripples and appear to indent in when I'm laying down or when the bag shifts. I was told by my Doctor that since originaly I went over the muscle I wouldn't be able to go under the muscle when I fix them and that this time the procedure would cost way more becouse of the scar tissue removal is that true?

Response: Yes,
Removal of the capsule and replacement of the implants in another location with the placement of new implants is a more expensive procedure than the original because it takes much more time and is a more complicated procedure. Also, your risk of repeat formation of capsule (scar tissue) is about 60%.
