Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction
Question 17

Question: Is it possible to do a breast reduction and/or lift without moving the nipple? I need to have a reduction, but do not want to lose the sensation in my nipples.

Response: Not really. The premise of these procedures is to change the shape of the breast and this usually entails making the areola diameter smaller and moving the nipple complex to a higher, more youthful level. Most patients do not lose sensation to their nipples after this procedure and oftentimes there is increased sensation to the nipples for the first month or so. Like any procedure there are trade-offs. Will you accept the possibility of less sensation but a much more attractive/youthful breast appearance?
