Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Breast Augmentation-Lift-Reduction Question 12
Question: I had a breast augmentation procedure in Mexico 11 years ago due to poland syndrome. Now I want to have another procedure but I do not know what implant size I have and where my implant was placed. I would like to know if there is any way to find out those things and also what is the condition of my implant. There are no records of the surgery here in Mexico. Thank you.
Response: It’s probably impossible to know the information that you are requesting. Having said that, it’s not critical to the success of any new procedure. Implant longevity depends on what was used. Older implants (twenty years or so) tend to fail more frequently. If you are not having a problem with your implants (hardness, pain and asymmetry) then you are probably good to go. Since Poland Syndrome is associated with a small pectoralis muscle, it’s likely that your implant is under the breast only.
