Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Abdominoplasty
Question 5
Question: Hello, I'm 19 years old. I'm 5'10" and weigh 160, I used to weigh 230. I lost my weight slowly of the years but I am left with a semi-sagging tummy (it's more of a bulge, it doesn't hang down). I was wondering if it would go away if I keep working out or am I going to need medical assistance in it's removal?
Response: With your substantial weight loss, it is unlikely that exercise alone will have much further effect upon your bulging abdominal wall. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery would most likely give you the improvement in contour you seek with removal of the excess skin and repair of the underlying muscles.
