Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Abdominoplasty
Question 29

Question: I have had 2 c-sections, a tubal, and a histerectomy all within 5 yrs. They used the same scar each time. I now have lost 30 pounds and the skin ( and a little extra fat) are flapped over my scar.Is there anyway to get rid of this extra skin without a complete tummy tuck?
From: KF, georgia 03/25/2009

Response: That depends upon the amount of excess skin. Sometimes, a small incision, just a little longer than your scar is all that is necessary, together with removing the deeper layers of scar and closing in layers from the muscle upwards can fix the indentation.
