Question: My girl has had three kids and can loose the weight she has but just can't get her skin back where it was and it is really bothering her. We wish to know what would be best to loose the streath marks and get her stomach back without the loose skin.
Response: Abdominoplasty (also called "tummy tuck") removes loose skin and can help with stretch marks. In this procedure, the excessive loose skin of the lower abdomen is removed, the remaining skin is stretched smooth and the muscles tightened. Also, extra fat tissue in the lower abdomen area is removed. Stretch marks on the lower abdomen are removed with the extra skin in that area and those of the upper abdomen are repositioned lower. Stretch marks or striae are deep scars within the skin. Sorry, there is no easy procedure to make them disappear. Some claim that lasers aid in the treatment of stretch marks but I am not of that opinion.
